This car is the featured car on the cover of Corvette Fever Magazine August/2004
The article and 6 color photos can be found on Pages 32, 33, 34 and 35 (see photos in this auction)
The article is titled “THE KEEPER” and when you see it…you will instantly know this is the one you have
been looking for. The article written for Corvette Fever Magazine by Wade Cassels with photography by
Chuck James gives the history of the car and explains how it ended up as the prized Corvette in the
collection of the Johnston’s , owner’s of Hilltop Farms. (well known for their quarter horses)
In the book Sports Car color history 1968-1982 by Mike Mueller, there is a two page color photo
of this car on the inside cover and can also be seen on pages 86, 87, 88, and 89.
In 1975 GM produced 33,836 Corvette coupes but this was to be the last year for the Corvette Roadsters until reborn again
in 1986 and only 4,629 Convertibles were produced in the St. Louis plant.
Very, very few were optioned like this car….even fewer in this eye-popping color combination which came with
other desired options like factory air-conditioning, automatic transmission, power windows, power steering, power brakes,
a tile and telescopic steering wheel, removable factory hardtop and a map light on the rear-view mirror.
The owner’s bought this car because of it’s incredible, near perfect, original condition.
They did replace the vinyl seat coverings, convertible top, carpeting and made sure everything worked properly
but the exterior paint other than a small area on the nose is all original….that’s right…42 years old and still looking fantastic.
Corvettes like this rarely surface for sale….as the article said….it is a “KEEPER”
